Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Healing Rooms Ministries began in Spokane, Washington in July of 1999 where John G. Lake had originally ministered back in the 1930’s. John G. Lake was a man of purpose, vision, strength and character whose one goal in life was to bring the fullness of God to every person. He was responsible for raising over 1,000,000 converts, 625 churches and 1,250 preachers in five years of ministry and had such an incredible healing ministry, that according to statistics, the U.S. Government declared his city, Spokane, Washington, to be the healthiest city in America.
What is your primary product or service?
Our call and purpose is to bring healing into the Body of Christ in every city and every nation according to 1 Thessalonians 5:23; “ Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit, soul, and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Healing Rooms Ministries is a faith based facility, set up for you to receive prayer and perfect peace in an environment that honors you where you are. We welcome all people with love and do not discriminate against any beliefs. Our vision is to connect people to their destiny in wholeness.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
For twenty-five years Cal and Michelle Pierce attended Bethel Assembly of God Church in Redding, California where Cal served as a board member and elder. In June 1996, he was powerfully touched by revival and God gave him an insatiable hunger to learn about healing and past revivals.
A year later, God drew them to Spokane, Washington and began to speak about re-digging the generational wells of healing. Through much prayer and a 40-day fast, Cal heard God say, “There is a time to pray and a time to move.” So, on July 22, 1999, Healing Rooms Ministries was opened.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
God immediately began to draw people from all over to once again come to Spokane for prayer just as in the days of John G. Lake. But this time there were those so impacted by their experience they desired to be trained, equipped and activated to pray for the sick so they could bring Healing Rooms to their cities. Thus International Association of Healing Rooms (IAHR) was born to establish uniformity and accountability in each work by offering, through an association, the tools to properly equip each healing room. Our focus is on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to work through us to heal the sick.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our service is free, and you can find over 1952 Healing Rooms open around the world in 56 nations where people are receiving healing for their spirits, souls and bodies.
Provide detailed directions to your location
Because of the fast growth of the ministry, we needed more room to accommodate over 6000 people coming for prayer and training each year, as well as the ever growing prayer team – represented by over 60 different churches – that God sent to help with the work. So, in November of 2001, we purchased our first building, right in the heart of Spokane. This building now contains 8 Prayer Rooms, a bookstore, TV studio and multiple offices for the International Office of Healing Rooms Ministries and the International Association of Healing Rooms (IAHR).
Our location is bordered by Spokane Mental Health, a prosthetic store, and previously a pharmaceutical company. Homelessness, prostitution, and great depravity surround us, which opens many doors to ministering right where it is needed most. In September 2005, we opened up a Healing Room at Sacred Heart Hospital in the Providence Center for Faith and Healing. Doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and those who are hospitalized are ministered to every week.
And still the ministry grew and expanded, as the vision for Healing Rooms was presented in conferences world-wide to people from other countries like England, Holland, Australia, South Africa, India and Canada who felt led to start Healing Rooms in their country. Now tens of thousands of people were being touched by the love of God and healed in mind, spirit and body each year.
In 2007 we purchased an additional building and now fill one square block in downtown Spokane. This new building, the "Conference and Training Center," has become a hub of many activities including monthly training. It seats 600 people and has provided a platform to bring in well known guest speakers from all over linking churches and ministries throughout the region.
Every year we host a free conference at the Spokane Convention Center, which brings together thousands of our Healing Rooms “family” from all over the world to reconnect, refresh and encourage one another. This event is open to all and creates an atmosphere of unity and expectation of miracles, signs and wonders as we listen for God’s direction for the ministry for the upcoming year.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover.
Which areas do you service?

In 2008 we launched our Partner’s in Healing program which gives people an opportunity to participate in prayer and giving to help achieve the fulfillment of the vision “Heal the body, heal a city, heal a nation”. This covenant agreement connects us as family and aligns us with other Kingdom builders.
In addition, we have enlarged our vision in reaching people through materials by developing International Christian Booksellers (ICB). ICB is designed to provide cutting edge materials to a hungry world and to make it possible for many Christ-centered teachings to be distributed in a fuller measure.
In 2010, we began the Journal of Healing, which is a monthly email newsletter highlighting Healing Rooms news, prayer directives, testimonies, upcoming events and book, CD, DVD and media specials.
We also host Healing Rooms School of Transformation which provides a unique opportunity to discover and develop your ministry gifts while learning to live a Kingdom Lifestyle and cultivate an intimate relationship with God. This school is currently being reproduced in other cities by means of a Blue-Ray DVD curriculum created by our media department. There is also an online School of Transformation which is launching at the beginning of 2013.
